About

Alexis Chávez graduated as an Electrical Engineer, but due to the hyperinflation crisis in Venezuela, he started looking for alternative income streams and ended up doing data work around 2015. Four years later, he joined Turkopticon as an organizer and worker liaison. Throughout his experience, he has gained insights into the complexities and challenges faced by data workers in the digital labor marketplace, deepening his understanding of the ethical implications surrounding data work and equipping himself with the tools necessary to advocate for fair treatment and improved working conditions.

He will be working on a project aimed at academic requesters seeking to commission data work, and as a consultant, he aims to ensure that the prototype effectively addresses these ethical concerns, providing a framework that promotes fairness, transparency, and respect for data workers. He will focus on integrating the worker's perspective into the design process and ensuring that the system is sensitive to the needs and challenges faced by data workers.
