Marie Schirmbeck

Marie Schirmbeck started her psychology studies as a volleyball scholarship recipient at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Following her successful career as a competitive student-athlete in Alaska, she transferred to the Humboldt University in Berlin, where she received her MSc degree in Psychology. During her studies she focused on engineering psychology and neurocognitive psychology. In her final theses she addressed the influence of linguistic categories on our perception.
After her studies, Mrs. Schirmbeck worked as a conversion analyst, where she applied her psychological knowledge in practice.

Since 2018 she is researching the privacy behaviour of Internet users as a research associate and doctoral candidate at the Weizenbaum Institute. In various experiments, she is investigating the cognitive and emotional-motivational dynamic processes that underlie and influence privacy decision-making.
